A rare and highly collectible mid-century hand-painted faience teacup and saucer from the legendary Keraluc studio in Quimper, France.
Founded in 1946 by Victor Lucas, Keraluc revolutionized traditional French ceramics by introducing avant-garde, modernist, and cubist influences to folk art. This striking set features a stylized, abstract portrait of a Breton man alongside bold, expressionist botanical patterns in rich, earthy mid-century tones.
Far rarer than standard commercial Quimper ware, Keraluc studio pieces are highly sought after by collectors of 1950s and 60s European design. It makes an incredible standalone display piece or a unique addition to a modernist ceramic collection.
Condition:
Excellent vintage structural condition with no chips, cracks, or restoration. Features a beautiful, authentic network of fine glaze crazing throughout, which is entirely characteristic of mid-century Keraluc earthenware and adds wonderful vintage character. Base bears the official Keraluc studio mark. Some of the paint has slightly worn off the handle.

This is a charming little Folk Art jug that could be used as a decorative item for your home or garden. It could also be used as a watering can for small houseplants. It’s multi-coloured in red, yellow, green white and black. It’s in good working order with no dents and only a small areas of rust on the underneath and inside in keeping with it’s age.
