Sold Out

A gorgeous mid-century Indian papier-mâché trinket box, hand-crafted and beautifully painted in the traditional style of Kashmir.

This oblong octagonal box features a fitted lift-off lid and is intricately decorated with "Naqashi" hand-painted floral work. Bold pink roses, red poppies, and cream blossoms are set against a deep dark lacquer background. This was likely made between 1950-1970.

The interior reveals the natural, unvarnished pressed-paper pulp, showcasing the authentic handmade craftsmanship of this traditional regional art form. A stunning addition to a vanity table for rings, or as an eclectic decorative piece on a gallery shelf.

The condition is good but the gold gilt has worn in places, otherwise it’s in good shape in keeping with it’s age.

Dimensions: 14.5cms length 8.5cms width
