Vintage Mid-Century 2-litre German Max-Bembel Pitcher
Here you have a classic salt glazed 2 litre pitcher from the Westerwald region of Germany. It is authentic hand-thrown stoneware with a classic cobalt blue slip art and a genuine kiln-fired salt glaze. A piece of German folk art that is built to be resilient, completely functional and great at keeping your beer and ale chilled. It’s very clean inside.
It is not stamped on the bottom probably because this one was hand-crafted by an individual potter , especially an older generation potter who didn’t always mark their work
I have cleaned it but please see photos for natural blemishes from the kiln but there is a stain on one side that won’t shift (see photos). It is still perfectly functional and great for it’s age. No chips or cracks either.
Dimensions: Holds 2 litres. 27cms height 10cms across the rim.
